Class Objectives: Using Vocabulary from the book in class discussions/Giving advice for a person with a hard decision/helping someone deal with bad news  

Vocabulary Examples:

1.     I want to apply for the University of Scranton.  I must complete an application. 

 

2.      I want to get my master’s degree, but I must consider where I will go.  I applied for a job, and now my application is under consideration by the manager. 

 

3.      Our team competes in the local soccer league.  There is a lot of competition to become the best team. 

 

4.      I don’t know what to eat for lunch.  I must decide.  It is such a hard decision for me. 

 

5.      I will observe you while you are speaking.  I will make an observation about your speaking skills.

 

6.      I recommend you get coffee at Green Line Café.  This is my recommendation.  

Vocabuary Discussion:  

1. What is a restaurant you recommend?

2. What was a hard decision for you?

3. What did you observe about Philadelphia so far?

4. What is something you competed in? 

5. Are you going to apply for anything soon?

6. What are you considering doing this summer?

A letter to Kento:

 Dear Kento,

 

I recommend that you open up to your parents and share your feelings.  If you are not ready for university, you shouldn’t apply yet, because it will be a waste of money.  So, consider what you want in your life, and then make a decision about where to study.
