1. Communication and Grammar (8:30-9:20)

*Prepare students for Quiz 2.  Work on when to use gerunds and infinitives and how to use conditional tenses.

Warm-up discussion:

*What did you do for the fourth of July?  Did you see any fireworks shows?  If so, where? 

*When do you celebrate your national day in your country?  What things are similar to the fourth of July?  What things are different?

*On the fourth of July we have the hot dog eating contest?  Do you have food eating contests in your country? 

 

Prepositions

Present vs. Past Participles

__Eating_____________(eat/eating) too much is bad for you.

 

Conditionals

If I ate 70.5 hot dogs, I would feel sick (present)

If I had eaten 70.5 hot dogs, I would have felt sick on my stomach.

If I spoke better English, I would not be a student at ELS

If I had studied English more as a child, I wouldn’t have come to ELS

 

Gerunds and Infinitives

I can’t wait (seeing/to see) you.

I am tired of (talking/to talk) to you.

*Finish Unit 3, Lesson B with students.  Unit 3 quiz will be on Tuesday.

3. RW Sahara (1:30-3:45) 

*Second paragraph revision.  Unit 3 reading comprehension.  Final reading quiz will be on Wednesday.
