To plot: to
make a point on a map
An incident:
an event (usually an abnormal one) happening
An angle: a
perspective or way of seeing something
Strategy:
how you do something to accomplish something
Context:
a specific situation
Ex. We use the same word with different meanings
depending on the context
Universal:
found everywhere
Ex. A heart is a universal symbol of love
Propose: to suggest an idea
Ex. I propose we have class outside
Nevertheless: it doesn’t matter
Student: Mr. Nate, I’m tired I want to go home.
Nate: Nevertheless,
you must stay for the class.
Publication:
newspapers, magazines, books
Statistics:
numbers about certain facts
Ex. Statistics show that 78% of our students are from….
Have to do with: something’s relationship with
something else
Ex. Mr. Nate is angry at the other teacher. This has to do with a fight they had.
Emphasize: to put a lot of energy or attention into
something
Reliance: depending on someone or something
Ex. I have reliance on my parents for help with
things.
Gesture: communication with hands
