Video and Short Writing: We will watch a video and write about it as a short writing assignment:

Class Vocabulary and Information

Credible: something you can believe; believable

Ex. My neighbor is a credible person because he never lies.

Imply: suggest something without saying it

Ex. You never say hi to me, but you say hi to everyone else.  This implies you don’t like me very much.

Correlation: relationship between two things

Ex. There is a correlation between smoking and lung cancer.  The faulty ads on TV make it look like there is a correlation between the stomach machine and six-pack abs, but this is misleading.

Unintentionally = opposite of deliberately; accidentally

Ex.  I unintentionally hit the other car.

While = in the middle of

I talked with my classmates while I was in class.

While = although, even though

While I am happy sometimes with your work, I am most of the time angry at you.

Even though you are my friend, I don’t trust you

Although I ate a salad and juice for lunch, I gained 5 kilos today

While I like to eat salads and fruit, I still am having problems with my weight

The first reason is because too much sugar can cause diabetes…..

Some people say that we can eat this because it tastes good.  Even though it tastes really good, there are non-sweet things that taste good, and they are much healthier for you.  For example, you can have eggs and veggies for breakfast.  It tastes good, gives you energy, and it doesn’t have the downsides of too much sugar.

Some people say that we should have shorter school days because students feel sleepy in class.  Even though it is true that students often are tired in the afternoon, it is not because we have long classes, it is because they have bad sleeping habits.  Maybe, if they go to bed earlier and get good rest, they will have energy to do longer hours at school.  Blame yourself, not the school.

Some people say that coming to school on Saturday is a bad idea because students need days for rest.  Although rest is a good thing, you came to learn, not to rest.  So, if you want to rest, you can return to your country and rest.  Otherwise, I’ll see you bright and early on Saturday.

I think students should not miss class if they don’t have to.

Some students say they can miss class because they want to have fun in the USA.  Even though it is good to have fun, then you should go to Disney World not ELS language program.  If the only purpose is fun, you can still come to the USA and do that without wasting time and money at a language school.
