Class Goal: Making predictions about people's futures

>John is doing a Theil fellowship.  He has two years to complete the program and start his own business with his new invention.  He is trying to invent a flying car.

"I think he will be very successful," his mother says.  She always believes in him.

"I think he is going to fail," says his neighbor Justin who is very jealous of him.  

Class Notes:

Predictions:

Because you do nothing in class, you probably will fail/you probably are going to fail. 

My team is the better one, so we probably will win the match/we probably are going to win the match. 

 

Mike and Karen are walking.  It begins raining.

Mike: Let’s get inside now!  We are going to get drenched! 

 

Naomi and Alex’s story:

I think Naomi is going to go to Stanford University because she wants to study there.  I think Alex is going to go to the Julliard school because he is so passionate about music, and he is extremely talented. 

Job:

*I think Naomi will become a doctor in Sydney.  *I think Naomi is going to get a good job.

*I think Naomi is going to be a famous doctor.

 

*Alex is going to be a musician. 

*Alex will get a bad job.

*I think Alex is going to be a famous singer. 

 

Finances:

*I think both of them are going to get a lot of money because of their jobs. 

*I think Naomi is going to be rich because she is studying at her university. 

* I think maybe Alex is not going to make a lot of money because there are a lot of good musicians in the world. 

*I think Alex and Naomi will have their financial needs met/He will get money from being a musician/She will search for a medical job

*Naomi is going to have a great salary because medicine pays a great salary

*Alex is not going to have a great salary because studying music is very complicated

*Naomi is probably going to get more money than Alex.  It’s complicated for Alex unless he becomes famous one day. 

 

Love life:

*Naomi won’t love Alex because she applied to Stanford Medical School in the U.S. 

*I think Alex will visit Naomi in the future. 

*I think Naomi will meet some famous doctor at Stanford Medical School, and she will fall in love.

*I think Alex will be a good lover in each country he goes to. 

*By chance, Alex and Naomi will meet by chance and fall in love again. 

 

Travel Experience:

*Alex is going to travel around the world because he is going to play with Taylor Swift’s band. 

*Naomi will not travel anywhere.
