Reading and Writing Sahara, Places you would like to go/Using Descriptive Language to Describe Places

 By Nate Feldman

I would like to visit the Jersey Shore this summer.  There are many great places I would be interested in going there.  A great example of this is Ocean City, New Jersey.  It is famous as being a great place to take your family on a vacation.  There are the beaches, the boardwalk with many shops, and there are amusement parks.  Second, I want to spend some time in Atlantic City, a little to the north of Ocean City.  There are a lot of fun activities there.  For instance, you can see different shows and entertainment at many of the hotels and resorts.  Many people gamble there, but I don't.  Finally, I can go further north along the shore to Asbury Park.  This also has a nice boardwalk and beaches, and it's famous because the singer Bruce Springsteen is from there originally.

Descriptive Writing:

I would like to visit the Amazon rain forest because there are many different types of animals there.

I would love to explore New York City because it is full of interesting art and culture.

My brother and I are interested in visiting Russia because we want to learn more about Russian history.

My sister would like to travel to every continent because she loves to learn about different cultures.

My parents would like to go to Turkey one day because they want to explore the underground cities.

A forest                                   green, large, dark

Hummus                                 lemony, tasty, savory

Table                                       smooth, cool, relaxing

Birds                                       chirping, soothing, singing

Flowers                                   sweet, fresh, strong

1.      I came to the dark forest with large, green trees everywhere.

I put some hummus on the bread and enjoyed its tasty, lemony, and savory taste.

I was tired in class, so I put my head down on cool, relaxing table with a smooth surface.

I opened the window, and I heard birds chirping and singing their soothing songs to wake up the world.

I walked outside and smelled the strong, fresh scent of sweet flowers everywhere.

In the stadium, we heard the loud guitar and the crashing of the drums with a beautiful harmony.
