*In this class so far we have talked about cause and effect essays, and focused on two styles. One that highlights the causes, and the other that focuses on effects.
Cause focused essay:
Why do people Travel?
By Nate Feldman
How often do you like to leave your house? Every year, millions of people around the world like to visit a new place. According to reports, last year 5.7 million people traveled around the globe. Travel is a part of the human experience, but why is it so important to us? Why do we like to travel so much? We travel for leisure, as well as educational and business reasons.
An important factor in people's decision to travel is they need to find time to relax. People like to go to different places, either in their country or around the world to escape the daily grind of their jobs. Very popular destinations include beaches, mountains, and other natural places filled with pristinity where people can refresh themselves.
Another reason people like to travel is because they are studying abroad. Many university students like the opportunity to take classes in another country for a variety of reasons. Perhaps they are studying a different language and want to be in the place where it is spoken on a daily basis. Or, they are studying a subject like history or economics and want to learn more about these subjects in those places.
Last but not least, people often travel because of their work. Often their jobs require them to go to different countries for work assignments. Also, some people travel to other countries because they want to work in those places. For example, English teachers often go to other countries to work at a school or language center there. Finally, there are businesspeople who want to build relationships with people from other countries, so they travel there to meet others in their fields.
To conclude, travel is a part of the human experience. We do not like to just sit still and see the same place again and again. Travel will continue to be a favorite activity for people now and well into the future.
Effect Focused Essay:
The Effects of Travel
By Nate Feldman
Travel is one of the most important activities humans do. Every year, according to reports, over 500 million people around the world do some form of travel, either in their country, or to other countries. Travel is a part of who we are. What are the effects of this? How is travel changing our lives? It affects us in many ways.
First, if you travel, you can improve your businesses success. You can do that because you will meet other business people from that country. If you do that, you can expand your business from a local company to an international one. For example, ELS is an international company. It has branches in Japan and Panama and Saudi Arabia. Business people from ELS had to travel to your countries to build these relationships. So, the travel made ELS a bigger company.
Another effect of travel is you are able to learn a new language where they actually speak it. If you are in the country that speaks it, you hear how they speak it in an authentic way. Maybe you read it in a book in your country or saw some videos. But, if you live in the other place, you see how people really use it every day.
To conclude, travel is very popular and it has many positive effects on people who do it, economically, educationally, and socially. So, travel as soon as you can. I’ll buy the ticket for you.

There has been a dramatic increase in the price of
food (big increase)
You are being so dramatic (so emotional and
