Assignment:

*Re-read White Lies in the text book.  While you are reading this time, I want you to characterize different people in this story.  How would you describe their actions and behavior?

1. Connie:

2. Connie's mother:

3. Connie's teacher:

4. Connie's classmates:

5. The author of this story:

Connie: She has courage because when everyone ridiculed her, or plucked her hair, she didn’t care about that.  She’s brave for trying to be friends with the bullies.  She is strong because she ignores the bullies when they talk to her.  She is not brave enough to advocate for herself.

Connie’s mother: She’s different from Connie. She cooperated with Connie to help her get along with her classmates.  She is very kind because she went to 7-11 with Connie.

Connie’s Teacher: The teacher didn’t work as a teacher because she never intervened.  She was unprofessional.  She’s not a good teacher because she didn’t intervene.  She is a bad teacher because she doesn’t care about Connie.

Connie’s classmates: They are bad because they plucked Connie’s white hair.  They are bad and also easy to influence because they liked her when they got candy.  They are cruel and abusive people.

The author: She feels guilty and ashamed about this.  She wants people to be aware of the bullying problem
