1. We will discuss the buildings we saw on Friday and discuss how we think they should be retrofitted by using illustrations
2. We will listen to the lecture, "Going Green," and take notes. Afterwards, we will answer questions about the lecture.
Going green =
becoming environmentally friendly.
*What are things you are doing in your daily life to go green?
*I try to use my
automobile a little less than before.
For example, if the place I am going to is 1-2 miles away, I will try to
get there by foot, because I don’t want to put emissions in the air for a small
trip. I also try to use less electricity
when I don’t have to. If it is
afternoon, and there is sunlight coming through the windows, I will not turn on
lights. Using the same bag for your
shopping instead of getting a new one each time is another way to be greener.
Vocabulary:
I am allergic to
animal fur. Animal hair is an allergen for some people. Home dust is an allergen for some
people. Dairy is a food allergen. Nuts are a big allergen.
A speck is a small dot of
something.
Something irritating bothers you a lot.
Suspended = hanging or floating
portable = something you can carry with you
Questions:
What things in the house are typical allergens to people?
How have filtration systems evolved?
How are HEPA filters superior to previous filtration systems?
