MLS Humanities, Vocabulary and Metaphors and Similes

Vocab. Warm-up:

*What is an aspiration of yours?  Are any of your aspirations lofty?

*Have you received acclaim for anything? If not, what is an acclaimed place you have been to?

*What is something you crave right now?

*Are you involved with any endeavors right now to improve your life?

*Do you have a voracious appetite? 

 

Frankenstein is a hurricane (metaphor)

*He makes a lot of disasters; he damages things; he is aggressive

Mary Shelley felt like a prisoner without a formal education (simile)

*I don’t have freedom; I can’t move; I can’t do anything I want

Reading was her best friend (metaphor)

*Something that she enjoys more than other things

Mary felt like her heart had been stolen (simile)

*She loved him so much

Mary felt like a new tree that had been cut down (simile)

*She felt like she couldn’t develop

*Do you know anyone who is a hurricane/like a hurricane?
