Conditional
Tenses
If I study hard, I get good scores in my class
(Present Real)
If I study hard, I will do well on the quiz tomorrow
(Future Real)
If I studied more, I would get better scores
(I don’t study, so I don’t get better scores)
If I ate
cheeseburgers every day, I would be sick
If I spoke
your language, I would understand you better (I don’t speak
your language, and I don’t understand you)
I didn’t study hard when I was young, and I didn’t get
high scores.
If
I had studied hard, I would have gotten better scores in high
school.
If
I hadn’t studied hard, I wouldn’t have gotten better scores in
high school.
It’s
a shame you didn’t come to class. You
would have had fun.
If
I had slept more last night, I would have woken up earlier this morning.
