MLS Humanities, AI in the Classroom

 By Nate Feldman

Today in class we watched a video about how some schools in China are experimenting with AI technology in the classroom.  For example, they are placing headbands on students that can read their brainwaves and inform both teachers and parents whether the students are focused in class or not.  Afterwards, we had these list of questions for discussion.

*Should teachers/schools be able to read students brain waves with AI to help them make the students focus more?

*How do you feel about AI becoming a part of education in the future?

*Do you think that AI recording students in class is beneficial for the education process?

*How would you feel if your teachers could share your brain waves with?

*Can AI replace teachers?  Do you agree that human teachers have a capacity to understand and empathize with students in ways that AI can never?
