ESL, or English as a Second Language, is one of the
largest language fields in the world.
There is incredible demand from students from many countries to learn
and improve their English skills all of the time. It’s hard to believe that a language that
came from a small island in the North Atlantic Ocean has become so important to
the world, but it’s the reality. The
question is why is that the reality? Why
do people need to learn English? They need to learn English to
communicate with others around the globe and for career purposes. (The Main argument of the essay)
English has become the international language, so if
you want to communicate with someone from a language that is not your own, but
it is hard to learn their language, then it is essential to study English. Take for example, someone from China
interacting with someone from Ukraine.
The Ukrainians might not speak Chinese, and the Chinese might not speak
Ukrainian. In many of these
circumstances, the two people with different languages will use English as a
way to interact with one another. As a result/therefore, it is essential
they have adequate English skills for this situation.
Another reason English is popular as a second language
is because in many countries it enables people to get a better career. In many fields around the world, a solid
knowledge of English is a requirement to obtain a good position. Therefore/for
that reason, students go to language centers around the world with the hope
that completing these programs will lead to better career opportunities.
Finally, people study English because, according to some students, it is easier to
learn than other languages. Chinese and
Ukranian have words and letters that are so difficult to pronounce for
non-natives. However, English is
friendlier in its pronunciation. Because of that, students are more
likely to pick English as a language study than many others.
To conclude, students will continue signing up for
English classes around the world due the necessity of learning it. It helps you interact with other cultures,
and it may help you get a job that is more ideal for you. Thank you.
