Reading Explorer 2, Getting the Right Dog

Jeff, Alison, and Mark go to an animal shelter to find the perfect dog for them.  When they arrived, they saw that there was a wide selection of dogs for them to adopt.  While they were looking at the different dogs, they began to discuss what the ideal dog for them would be.

"I want to treat my dog like my child," Jeff said.  I want to dress him or her in clothes, give them food from five-star restaurants and take them on vacation to the most luxurious hotels.  I really want to spoil them because I love dogs so much!

"That's nice," Alison said.  "As for me, I really want my dog to be there when I am not feeling well.  Sometimes, when I feel sick, it is nice to have a dog there by my side.  It makes me feel so much better."

"Those are all nice things," Mark replied.  "But, I need a dog for my job.  I work in security, and I need a dog that can smell things in people's luggage or bags.  For example, if they are bringing drugs, I need a dog for that."

Questions:

1. Which person is looking for the pampered pet?

2. Which one wants the working dog?

3. Which one wants the animal carer?

4. What kind of dog do you prefer to have?
