Example essay:
Comparing Two Stores
Black Friday is the day when people go shopping in large
numbers because of the discounts on different items. If you go to a mall, you will see them thronged with hordes of people clamoring
for the best items to purchase. Whenever
I go shopping, I go to Dick’s sporting goods for sports equipment and I go to
Macy’s for clothing. You would think
they are so different, but actually they are quite similar.
The biggest similarity between the two shops is that they
both sell clothing items. Although Dick’s
is famous for also having sports equipment, such as baseballs, soccer balls,
footballs, and bats, gloves, and other things, they also have a large selection
of shorts, pants, shoes, socks, and even underpants. Of course, Macy’s is famous for its clothing
selection from top designers, such as Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss. So, either place is a good one to consider getting
new apparel for yourself.
While there are some similarities, as the one mentioned
above, there are a multitude of
differences as well. First and foremost,
Dick’s is a sporting good store whereas Macy’s focuses on all sorts of clothing
for daily life. Furthermore, Macy’s has
other daily living needs, such as beds and furniture while Dick’s just has
things connected to sports. Thus, the
type of people who come to these stores may be quite different. Dick’s is far more likely to attract people
who are athletes while Macy’s attracts everyone of all backgrounds.
